Project: Real-Time Processing of Perception Verb Registers in Multilingual Contexts: Investigating Situational Formality in Bengali
I am currently pursuing my PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), where my research sits at the confluence of language, perception, and cognition. Prior to this, I worked as a Project Scholar at the Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, contributing to two major projects: the development of a Kharia Sabar Dictionary for the endangered Kharia Sabar speech community, and the expansion of the Bengali WordNet.
At Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, I will be joining Project C03 under the supervision of Prof. Natalia Gagarina, Dr. Katja Maquate, and Prof. Pia Knoeferle. My research there will focus on how contextual formality modulates verb comprehension in Bengali-English bilinguals, with a particular emphasis on perception verbs, through self-paced reading experiments.
