Besides the central projects in the CRC, it is structured into three main areas.
The projects in Area A are concerned with the register dependence of different grammatical phenomena and their modeling in grammatical theories.
The projects in Area B investigate how registers emerge and change and how register can affect language change.
All projects in Area C investigate the cognitive processing of register phenomena. Some projects investigate the course of acquisition of register phenomena while others experimentally explore differences in speech production, speech perception or reception in dependence to differences in situative contexts.
The central projects coordinate the research activities and provide support for the different projects.
The listed projects have been part of area A, B, or C in an earlier funding phase of the CRC.
