In November 2021 a team of researchers from the University of Kurdistan, the University of Tehran, and the University of Cologne, studying the multilingualism of Iran, embarked on a joint project to collect authentic speech samples of different Kurdish dialects in the Iranian province Kurdistan.
Some of these dialects are in danger of disappearing. All of them are languages that are only spoken, with limited or no writing tradition.
