Project: A Self-Paced Reading Study: Processing Register Formality Mismatches in Indonesian Heritage Speakers

Ardia is a short-term scholarship holder in the CRC 1412 “Register,” specialising in Indonesian language education, applied multilingualism, and heritage language preservation. Her research interest focuses on heritage language maintenance and bi/multilingual acquisition, with a specific emphasis on Indonesian as a heritage and second language within global diaspora communities. Her research studies how Indonesian heritage speakers understand differences in formality while reading. Her work is part of project C03 at the CRC. She uses a method called self-paced reading to look at the difficulties people face when they encounter mismatched levels of formality in language.
