Project: Register-Sensitive Syntax in Standard Arabic and Tamazight (Tarifit of Nador): A Corpus-Based Short Study of Object Drop and Agreement

Asmae El Hassani is a PhD candidate in Theoretical Linguistics at the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Nador, Morocco. Her research focuses on the grammatical and syntactic structures of noun phrases in Arabic and Tamazight, with a special interest in register-sensitive morphosyntactic variation. At CRC 1412, she investigates how object drop and agreement patterns shift across registers in Standard Arabic and Tarifit (Berber) of Nador, combining corpus-based and fieldwork methods. As a native speaker of Tarifit, she brings an insider perspective to the analysis of underdocumented varieties and aims to contribute to the typology of register-driven syntactic flexibility.
