Carol Aru

Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS)

Carol Aru is a PhD student in the SFB project Speaker’s choices in a creole context: Bislama and Morisien (SFB Register A02) and in Research Area 3 ‘Syntax & Lexicon‘ of the ZAS.

Carol Aru’s research area is Bislama, a creole language spoken by the population in the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. In particular, she studies the choices speakers make in a given situation between the different available linguistic variants. She also explores the different forms of Bislama that speakers may use depending on the situation or purpose of the dialogue.
