Mariia Razguliaeva

Mariia (Masha) Razguliaeva is a PhD candidate in Slavic linguistics with a strong interest in corpus and experimental approaches to language. Her research focuses on language change and the interfaces between syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. In her Master’s thesis, she explored how register influences the use of null subjects in an Old Russian text. Her current PhD project investigates the interaction of illocutionary force, polarity, and prosody in Russian and Slovak polar questions. As part of the B06 project “Register in the cross-linguistic diachrony of logical particles”, she examines the role of register in the historical development of polarity-related phenomena in East-Slavic, focusing in particular on the use of negative concord items.
