Souvik Sengupta
Former visiting fellow (April 2025 – March 2026, A07/MGK): Modal Use across Registers in Indian English: Situational-Functional Use and Social Meanings of Modal Verbs and Adverbs
Souvik Sengupta has background in both theoretical and applied linguistics from the University of Calcutta. His broader interests include syntax, pragmatics and corpus linguistics. Among others, he is also interested in how language change and variation influence society.
As a fellow of the MGK, he was associated with A07. His research topic was “Modal Use across Registers in Indian English: Situational-Functional Use and Social Meanings of Modal Verbs and Adverbs”
