Project: Development of Writing and Register Competences amongst Newly Immigrated Adolescents in InteA-Classes: A Longitudinal Corpus Analysis (BerSchKo)
Yee Cheng is a doctoral candidate and researcher at the Justus Liebig University of Giessen. She completed her Master’s degree in German Studies with a specialisation in German as a Foreign Language (DaF) at the University of Giessen in 2023.
Her research focuses on the development of writing and register competence in the context of German as a Second Language (DaZ). As part of her dissertation project, “BerufsSchulKorpus (BerSchKo),” she conducts a corpus-linguistic study of the development of vocational and school-based writing competences among newly immigrated adolescents in integration classes, while taking into account language-biographical factors.
As a research fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin, she is affiliated with Project C05, where her research will focus on the intersection between vocational registers and school-based language requirements, as well as the modeling of developmental trajectories.
