Tobias B. Paul

Tobias B. Paul hat Ägyptologie und Archäologie des alten Sudan, Soziologie und Kulturphilosophie sowie historische Linguistik studiert. Er hat einen M.A. in Archäologie und Kulturgeschichte Nordostafrikas und einen B.A. in Kulturwissenschaften. Tobias interessiert sich vor allem für ägyptische und koptische Linguistik mit den Schwerpunkten Sprachwandel, Soziolinguistik, Morphologie und Phonologie und hat zu historischen Fragen wie dem Einsatz von Kriegselefanten im alten Nordostafrika geforscht. Im Rahmen des B03-Projekts wird er die Registervariation in der ägyptisch-koptischen Sprache untersuchen. In seinem Dissertationsprojekt untersucht er, wie Register an den Prozessen des Sprachwandels vom Älteren zum Späteren Ägyptischen beteiligt sind.
